A free mod for Fallout 4 that adds backpacks
Backpacks of the Commonwealth is a Fallout 4 mod that adds 15 unique backpacks to the game. It is similar to the Fallout 4 inventory mod but adds backpacks as new items, which you can pick up and use to extend your inventory space. The backpacks are also integrated with other containers and NPCs.
This additional game content mod is similar to the Whispering Hills and Weathers & Climate mods. The main difference is that this mod concentrates on problems and solutions for inventory space. Filling up a backpack will no longer leave your character with an encumbered status.
Is a clean save required for v1.4?
You are not required to perform a clean save to use and benefit from v1.4 of this mod. However, you may need to drop the backpack and pick it up again to activate it.
Is this a typical backpack mod?
In most cases, a backpack mod bumps up your inventory space to a higher capacity, quite often in a game-breaking way. This mod adds a gameplay element that also serves as a way to expand your inventory limit.
Is there a backpacks tutorial available?
There are Holotape scripts that you can play within the game. They explain how the backpacks work and detail how the finite mechanics compare to its scalable inventory system.
Carry a gun in the game
Being overweight and struggling with inventory space in Fallout 4 is part of the base game. Still, it is a little annoying for long-time players. Some variants of the backpack will even allow you to carry a gun, including the Fat Man.
Inventory space and strength skills
The Fallout backpack mod is an add-on that extends your inventory space beyond what you would normally receive with your skill strength. Your skills do not scale to make the backpack stronger. Skills may offer flexibility, but your backpack offers you additional, albeit finite, space.
