Zombie-themed co-op shooter for PC
Back 4 Blood is an action video game for PC developed by Turtle Rock Studios. It is a multiplayer first-person shooter that is considered by many to be the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, which was also developed by the same game studio.
As mentioned, many comparisons have been made between Back 4 Blood and Left 4 Dead, and it’s not surprising to see why. It features largely similar gameplay mechanics, but with expectedly, better and updated graphics, with the most notable new feature being the addition of a card system.
What is Back 4 Blood all about?
Back 4 Blood takes place in a post-apocalyptic world wherein the outbreak of a newly discovered parasite has infected the majority of humanity and turned in the “Ridden.” You will step into the shoes of one of the members of the “Cleaners,” a veteran group that has come together to fight back and defend against the oncoming zombie attack.
There are two game modes available in the game. The first is a 4-player cooperative campaign with AI or player-controlled teammates. Choose from among 8 Cleaners and various weapons and items as you take increasing challenging missions. The second mode is Competitive Multiplayer, wherein you can play with or against your friends, taking turns switching between Cleaners and Ridden roles in frenetic PvP matches.
Back 4 Blood features a new rogue-lite Card System that changes the gameplay experience every time letting you create custom decks, roll various builds, and have more demanding fights. The game was originally set for release on June 22, 2021, but has been moved to October 12, 2021. It will be available across all major gaming platforms, PC, and consoles. An open beta is also set to be released in mid-2021.
A second coming
After the release of the hit Left 4 Dead more than a decade ago, Turtle Rock Studios is Back 4 Blood (pun intended) and is set to release a proper successor that a lot of long-time fans have been asking for. You can expect a familiar kind of gameplay, only more polished, refined, and with some rouge-lite elements mixed in for a nice twist. Place this one on your radar when it releases soon.
