An earthquake awareness app for kids
Baby Panda Earthquake Safety 1 is part of the BabyBus collection of educational apps for Android devices. Like the iOS version, Earthquake Safety Tips, this preschool game features Baby Panda characters, MiuMiu and Kiki, in emergency situations.
A free educational game with in-app purchases, it’s the first of 2 earthquake-related apps by BabyBus. Similar to Lola’s Alphabet Train Free in its design, it tries to show children how to react, protect themselves, find shelter, seek help, and help others in an emergency.
How does it work?
Users can choose from a range of locations to experience earthquake safety demonstrations. Once they select their location, this earthquake awareness app will provide songs, quizzes, and games that the user can interact with. These include actions like pushing a button, sliding their finger, or moving characters and objects across the screen.
Who can use it?
Geared towards users aged 4 and above, as well as fans of the BabyBus YouTube channel, this earthquake safety game can be accessed by Android tablet and phone users worldwide.
What’s special about it?
This kid’s safety app was reviewed by earthquake specialists. The app’s content tries to familiarize users with best practices to address power outages, injuries, hunger, and other aspects of emergency situations while also debunking long-held myths. The app features tips on whistling, finding shelter, keeping a contact card, and preparing an emergency bag, among other things.
A light-hearted safety app
For a fun and user-friendly kid’s earthquake app, Earthquake Safety 1 manages to unpack a range of key safety tips via quizzes, songs, and interactive gameplay. However, storytelling takes up most of the gaming experience, and it’s hard to gauge its educational value from its limited interactive content.
