Cute interactive desktop companion for PC
Baba Friend is a free simulation title for PC made by an indie developer Hempuli. It is an interactive game wherein players can have a quirky friend named Baba as their PC companion. The four-legged pet will be roaming around their desktop environment as they go about their business.
From the same developer who made the award-winning physics-based puzzler, Baba Is You, Baba Friend features the same memorable Baba main character. Here, it’s more of a pet simulator that players can watch and interact with on their desktops in various ways.
Baba needs a friend
Baba Is You is an award-winning physics-based puzzle game praised for its complex and cleverly designed puzzles that force players to really think about the environment and how they approach problem-solving. More than the gameplay, many have also grown fond of the titular character for its quirky, yet cute appearance. With Baba Friend, you can now have it goof around your desktop as a virtual pet.
The game’s installation process is quick and easy and will drop your new pet on your desktop. You can drag and drop it anywhere you like. Otherwise, you can leave it be and it will merrily walk along your program title bars and various window borders randomly. A right-click will let you access the settings page wherein you can adjust options like scaling it to any size you want.
What’s more, the program supports custom sprites for creating other character designs. It provides useful instructions on how to apply them from its download folder. A couple of things that should be addressed in future updates would be that Baba would sometimes disappear behind the taskbar and will not show up again, and graphical flickers when it’s falling down—minor things that can be fixed rather easily.
Baba everywhere
If you’re a fan of virtual desktop pets and liked the character from Baba Is You, then you can now enjoy both in Baba Friend. It’s an amusing little PC companion you can simply watch fumble around or interact with it as you like. The support for custom sprites is a nice touch if you want to change the look of it in the future. Recommended.
