A relaxing beekeeping sim for PC
APICO is a premium simulation title for PC made by developer TNgineers. It’s a management game that lets players create their very own beekeeping business. In it, they will learn how to breed, collect and conserve bees and help them grow and expand their hive.
Similar to The Ranchers or My Time At Portia, APICO lets players experience what it’s like to build something with their own hands and see it grow and thrive. This demo version will offer a small preview of what they can expect to see once the full game is officially released.
So how do I play it exactly?
In APICO, you play a character who’s tired of living the mundane and stressful city life and decides to go back home to Port APICO. It just so happens that your family has roots in the business of beekeeping and so you try your hand at the long-held craft. Thus, begins your journey into the fascinating world of collecting, breeding, and conserving bees as a profession.
The game mixes resource management, biology, and beekeeping elements in its core gameplay. Some of them are actually based on real apiculture and floriculture knowledge and practices. You’ll set out to rediscover lost species all across the multiple biomes featured in the game and even cross-breed new ones. This is an effort to help them spread and repopulate throughout your hometown’s lush greenery and environments.
What’s more, you’ll also get the chance to harvest and sell honey, create mead out of them, as well as other beekeeping products as a business. As mentioned earlier, this is just a demo that will let you play a few hours of the game. As for when the full game will officially release, there is no exact date yet, outside of a planned Q1 2022 timeframe.
Relax and bee chill
Overall, APICO is a nice and relaxing simulation game that you can play if you want something more light-hearted and fun. Its beekeeping theme is also quite rare to see in a genre where most others focus on simulating farming or country life. It’s an easy recommendation that just about anyone can pick up and enjoy. Highly recommended.
