A Skyrim mod that adds new hairstyles for in-game characters
ApachiiSkyHair SSE is a free mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The mod only makes purely cosmetic changes, including the addition of many new hairstyles. You can assign the hair to characters in the game and use them with the Creation Kit application.
The mod gets its new hairstyle models from the Sims 2 and the Sims 3 game. Players can change the hair of existing in-game characters through console commands. However, the Creation Kit is needed to change the hair for NPC characters. That means NPC hair changes must be completed outside of the game.
A new look for Skyrim inhabitants
The hair models used in Skyrim are mostly in keeping with the aesthetics of the world, meaning that dirty hair is presented in sensible plaits or ponytails. In addition, ApachiiSkyHair SSE brings in a choice of several glamorous hairstyles, which gives the inhabitants of the Skyrim world a very different look.
The Creation Kit and console commands
While the player can change their own hair in-game through console commands, the Creation Kit is needed to alter the hair of NPC characters. It is a relatively straightforward process but may be too technical for some.
Helmet issues
When a character wears a helmet, their head becomes bald to prevent their hair from clipping through the character’s armor. The developer created an additional mod that needs to be installed to resolve this to get around this. However, this mod is not included with ApachiiSkyHair SSE.
Color mismatches
As noted by the developer, changing the hair of an NPC can cause a color mismatch between the body and face of the character. This problem is fixable, but it takes additional steps.
