AMC Portal Mobile: An Automated Airspace Reservation for Unmanned Aircraft Systems

AMC Portal Mobile is a mobile application that is part of the AMC Air Navigation Management web application. It allows registered users of the AMC Portal website to use an automated airspace reservation for unmanned aerial vehicles up to 120m AGL. The automated procedure is used for flying unmanned aircraft systems in UAG (UAS Approved Geographical Zone) within the CTR from ground level up to 50m AGL, but outside of the published UAG zone, and outside of the CTR from ground level up to 120m AGL if there are no active restrictions of higher priority.

The application allows users to request airspace reservation on the day of the UAS flight operation and displays the status of the airspace. It also provides location data to ensure that the user is physically within the approved airspace reservation to avoid misuse of approval conditions of use an airspace. The location data is only used while the user is using the application and its following features: “Locate Me” icon on Map, “reservation request” has been sent for approval, “Tactical activation request” has been sent, and during the approved tactical activation (“Activity in progress status”) until the cancellation of approved reservation location data will be used even when the application is minimized.
