Remake of the classic Ambermoon RPG
Ambermoon.net is a free role-playing game created by an indie developer by the name of Pyrdacor. It is a remake of the classic RPG Ambermoon played in the Amiga system in the early 1990s. It features a fantasy narrative that will have players explore an expansive world and face deadly creatures.
Compared to the original Ambermoon and others like it, such as Chrono Trigger and Fallout 2, Ambermoon.net still features the classic 2D pixel art design and graphics. It also retains the turn-based combat system that portrays attack and character animations in front of a static background.
To the land of Lyramion
Ambermoon is an RPG that was developed and published by Thalion Software for the Amiga back in 1993. It was the second installment of a trilogy that the developer was working on, with Amberstar being the first. Ultimately, the plan was scrapped and left unfinished. The game was popular with a lot of players back then, and with Ambermoon.net, you can now experience it for yourself.
This remake is essentially the same game as the original, only rewritten to work on computers today. The most notable change is the support for higher resolutions and full-screen gameplay, louder music and sound effects, and an optional graphical filter for a different and unique look if you want. You will also get various usability improvements that aim to improve gameplay and legibility without affecting the retro feel too much.
In this fantasy adventure, you will get to explore your vast homeworld of Lyramion and its two moons. Meet various characters, battle deadly creatures using magic, and take part in an unfolding narrative about stopping evil and discovering yourself. It really is just a well-executed remake. The only unfortunate thing is that there was no chance for the rest of the story to be resumed and concluded.
Masterfully remade
Whether you played the original back in that day or this is your first time hearing about it, you’ll be in for a fun time with this classic RPG remake. It’s basically a 1:1 copy, just with some tweaks and features added for a better gameplay experience. You can even try Amberstar to get a better appreciation of the story. Nevertheless, this is an easy recommendation.
