The long-awaited follow-up to the Alan Wake series
Alan Wake 2 is a premium action title for PC made by developer Remedy Entertainment. It is a survival horror adventure and sequel to the award-winning Alan Wake game that was released back in 2010, as well as its subsequent remastered version that came out in 2021.
Picking up where the first Alan Wake game left off, Alan Wake II will continue to have the titular character as its main protagonist, but this time around, it will also delve deeper into the stories of its supporting characters, including Barry Wheeler and Sheriff Sarah Breaker.
What will this sequel be about?
When the first Alan Wake game was released back in 2010, it garnered critical acclaim from both players and reviewers alike. Many praised its tight pacing and compelling storytelling that pulled you in deeper into its narrative. Add to this, its beautiful presentation and surprisingly complex combat, and you have a hit. More than a decade later, Alan Wake II is finally official and on its way.
The most notable change coming to Alan Wake II is that it will be a survival horror experience compared to its predecessor’s more action-oriented gameplay. All Remedy releases use the developer’s proprietary Northlight Game Engine, and this game is set to be “the most beautiful Remedy game ever.” All of this will help the developer create a deep and layered story that also connects with its gameplay.
The game released its first CG trailer during the 2021 Game Awards, and provided fans a sneak peek of what’s to come. More details about its story will come out in 2022 as it gears up for its official release. Speaking of release, there is still a lot of waiting to be done, since it has no exact date yet apart from being released in 2023.
It’s finally coming
It has been a long wait, but fans of the Alan Wake will finally be getting the sequel they have been hoping for with Alan Wake II. The shift in gameplay style will prove to be interesting and something different, with all the graphical updates to go with it. There’s a long way to go before it releases, but at least now, you know it’s coming.
