A Fighter Plane Game Not for the Soft-Hearted

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is an airborne virtual reality (VR) game wherein you helm the cockpit of a fighter plane and embark on some fearless stunts and tactical fights skimming through the clouds.

Game Premise

In the game, you don the role of a fighter pilot who is entrusted with the job to patrol the sky – the most intimidating and open space. You can select from a range of authentic-looking, futurist and modern aircrafts and have them loaded with cutting-edge weaponry, which come in handy once you head into more thrilling aerial face-offs. The story is melodramatic and the action over the top, but it’s definitely fun up there.The game is the 17th iteration of the Ace Combat series and the first one to support VR. Unfolding via the different characters’ perspective, the game is one military drama wherein the entire world seems to be on the verge of a catastrophe.

Flight Mechanics and Gameplay

If you have played earlier editions of the Ace Combat series, you would feel right at home with the flight’s mechanics. The models on offer are similar to the previous planes. Controlling the airplane is also quite interesting, but you must be alert at all times to ensure smooth flying.Clouds, unlike in previous Ace Combat games, play a major role in your navigation in the sky. They could be utilized for stealth or concealment when sneaking up behind your opponents. However, hiding in the clouds too long would hamper the aircraft’s performance.
