The Assembly combines VR puzzle and adventure gaming
The Assembly is a first-person VR game that combines puzzle and adventure game elements. You play as two different characters involved with a mysterious group known simply as The Assembly. While new recruit Madeleine Stone attempts to prove herself for membership, existing Assembly employee Caleb Pearson begins to uncover evidence of a plot.
A simple mix of genres
The Assembly immerses you in a mysterious lab complex and tasks you with exploring it, finding clues, and solving logic-based puzzles to uncover more of the developing story. The movement system can be a little cumbersome, and it may take a little while to learn how to navigate around the environment. Interacting with the puzzles is fun, although they aren’t particularly challenging; the game signposts the expected solutions pretty clearly. The story and characters are well developed, although some of what’s going on is described in a way that’s frustratingly vague. As you might expect from a mystery game, there’s a good deal of text to read, which can sometimes be challenging in a VR headset.
An intriguing mystery with simple gameplay
The Assembly features simple adventure and puzzle gameplay. It’s fun if you feel like exploring a VR world, but not for those who want a challenge.
