Free competitive tower-defense game

Bloons TD Battles 2 is a competitive tower-defense game developed by Ninja Kiwi and is the latest addition to the strategy game series Bloons Tower Defense. This free game is a direct sequel to Bloons TD Battles 1 and a spin-off of Bloons TD 6.

The premise of Bloons TD Battles 2 is the same as its predecessor. The goal is to prevent enemy balloons from traversing their tracks and taking lives. Although, the game inherits elements from Bloons TD 6, including heroes and tower XP. It also brings new features, such as reworked graphics and a trophy-based progression system

How do you play this game?

In Bloons TD Battles 2, two players compete against each other to survive the onslaught of enemy balloons called Bloons. To do so, you will need to create monkey and non-monkey towers to serve as defenses. While doing so, you will also need to attack each other with your Bloon rushes. The map is split vertically, with Player 1 assigned to the left and Player 2 on the right.

Each player is assigned life points of 150, and every time a bloon gets to your side of the map, points will be deducted. The player to reach zero lives loses. As with other Bloons games, the bloons will have a different color that corresponds to its effects. Each player will have loadouts of 22 bloon-popping towers, which you can drag and place on your side of the map.

As with its predecessor, you can buy upgrades and new towers. Although, unlike Bloons TD 6, you cannot generate money by popping the balloons, Rather, it adds an increment of money to your total funds every six seconds. The game will also have balance changes for various towers. The bloon send system is also completely overhauled. Finally, the medallions from BTDB are replaced by a trophy-based progression system.

Is the game good?

Overall, Bloons TD Battles 2 is a fun game that lives up to the franchise name. Although the core gameplay remained unchanged, it brought something new to the table to make the experience more fun. However, like its predecessors, it is far from perfect. The XP system is too slow that it takes ages to unlock upgrades. The app is also too buggy and is prone to crashing.
