Eye burning arena space shoot ’em up
Squid Yes, Not So Octopus 2: Squid Harder is an indie “arena shooter”. All the action takes place in a contained space, and your job is to survive wave after wave of neon glowing enemies.
The appearance of Squid Yes, Not So Octopus 2: Squid Harder is reminiscent of Geometry Wars, but the over the top effects and explosions make the action much harder to keep track of. This version features four worlds. World 1 is one minute long, World 2 two minutes long, and so on. Surviving is a challenge, as there are times you really can’t see where your Squid is. However, it’s not impossible, and the whole game is done with some humor.
To make the game accessible, developer Robert Fearon has given Squid Yes, Not So Octopus 2: Squid Harder extensive options. You can configure the visuals to be less blinding, turn off collision detection to make it easier, turn on autofire and more. This philosophy of making the game configurable to the player’s abilities is pretty cool, and means with some tweaking, anyone will be able to complete all four worlds.
In this version Keyboard and joystick control is supported. Joysticks are probably the best controller for this type of game, but you can get by with the Keyboard.
Squid Yes, Not So Octopus 2: Squid Harder is an overwhelming visual experience, that can be made as easy or difficult as you like.
