Chaos-focused DLC for WARHAMMER III
Total War: WARHAMMER III – Champions of Chaos is a premium downloadable content (DLC) pack from SEGA. Built on the expansive Warhammer lore and franchise, it introduces four new Legendary Lords, available for use on the Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires campaigns. It also adds a host of new content that focuses explicitly on the Warriors of Chaos faction.
More importantly, this additional content for the strategy game Total War: WARHAMMER III reworks the Chaos Warriors, who were first introduced in the 2016 title Total War: WARHAMMER. Expect new gameplay mechanics that will definitely bring attention to the chaos-aligned races.
Reviving the Warriors of Chaos
The release of the Total War: WARHAMMER III – Champions of Chaos DLC fixes a longstanding concern from fans of the game. In the base game, there are different playable factions. You have the human factions of Grand Cathay and Kislev, the Ogre Kingdoms, and five Chaos-aligned factions. Four factions are dedicated to each of the Chaos Gods, and the last one is the Daemons of Chaos.
This content releases a new Legendary Lord for each of the Chaos Gods, each having their unique skill sets and offering bonuses for their respective factions. Also, there are over 50 new battlefield units that come with this pack, making for a lot of new gameplay potential. Here, players can now elevate lower-tiered units through Chaos ranks into those of a higher level.
Of course, Champions of Chaos requires the base game in order to play. Also, like most Total War games, expect a steep learning curve for the Warhammer games. Having the DLC in your library will also require time to get used to, although the new game mechanics definitely makes the game more challenging and more addictive. Still, some of the minor bugs from the base game remain in this release.
A welcome rework
By releasing Total War: WARHAMMER III – Champions of Chaos, fans can expect a massive rework of the Chaos factions, which make up a sizable part of the game. Not only does it introduce new playable units, but it also features new Champions that offer entirely new gameplay possibilities. If you already have the base game, this DLC is the next logical step.
