Customizable quick settings app
One Shade: Custom Notification is a free personalization app from developer ZipoApps. This customization tool lets users create a custom version of the native notification window and quick settings menu found in Android. It provides more options and features for them to configure to their liking.
Similar to how Quick Settings does it, One Shade: Custom Notification offers users a more robust and customizable alternative to what is natively available on their smartphones and tablets. It’s also designed based on Google’s UI design standards for a more seamless and unified look.
Quick access
Ever since Google introduced the Quick Settings feature in Android, the whole usability and ease of use of the popular mobile operating system have improved greatly. It makes it easier to access and enable the most frequently used functions on your device straight from the notification shade. Here then comes One Shade: Custom Notification, a standalone implementation, and an alternative to the stock notification center.
This program is basically a more customizable version of the stock Android notification shade. It even looks similar at first glance but offers more options for adding shortcuts to system actions or apps. It handles multiple alerts from the same app better with an auto bundle that groups them for easier management. You then have options to read, snooze, or dismiss it on the spot.
For the control panel, you have full theming support for its background, color, icon shape, and layout. It also serves as a quick launch pad that lets you open any app. The brightness slider is located more toward the bottom for easier reachability, too. It suffers from occasional crashes, though, and the design is based on Android 11, so some will take issue with it.
A capable alternative
All in all, if you’re a power user and find the stock notification shade in Android to be a bit limiting, then One Shade: Custom Notification offers a more capable alternative. It follows the same design language but offers much more customizability and freedom to tailor it to your needs. Outside of some occasional crashing and it is based on Android 11, it’s a solid option to consider.
