Fun and dynamic tycoon simulator game

Developed by Snowhound Games, Potion Tycoon offers an addictive way to pass the time by managing a potion business. Now, fans of business simulation games are more likely used to titles like Fish Tycoon or Hospital Tycoon, wherein more mundane businesses are simulated. This game deviates from the norm with a fun, witchy twist.

Potion Tycoon comes with superb and well-drawn 2D graphics, emulating an old-timey, RPG-esque vibe. In it, the player has to establish their name in the potion-making business, meeting new customers and fulfilling their orders along the way.

Brew potions and keep up with the trends

Unlike most tycoon simulator games that offer a bird’s eye view of the business, Potion Tycoon provides a widespread, linear set-up that takes up the entire screen. At first, the player begins with just one store, and the more the business expands, the more stores can be built. There is a detailed tutorial in the beginning that will ease one into the dynamic gameplay seamlessly, too.

In expanding the business, the player not only builds new store stalls to sell stuff in but there is also a bit of alchemy and economics involved — the player also needs to mix and match ingredients to concoct new brews and put prices on them. The statistics of each potion can be viewed in a menu, and from there the player can decide whether or not to raise the prices.

There are different events and market trends to watch out for, and the latter sometimes requires changing pricing or recipes in order to keep up with what the customers want. Some customers also make VIP requests that can either boost or damage the shop’s reputation, depending on if they are fulfilled or not. Despite all that, however, the gameplay eventually starts feeling repetitive.

Out-of-the-ordinary business tycoon model

In a nutshell, Potion Tycoon offers a witchy, refreshing take on the typical business tycoon simulator subgenre. Not only that, it presents a unique, potion-making shop experience that is rarely explored in these games, but it also adds elements of alchemy and economics in it. Overall, the player gets a more hands-on shop owner gameplay because they have to concoct new potions and fix their pricing as well.
