Very basic remake of the classic game
Scrabble is a very basic remake of the word-based board game. Unfortunately, it’s not an improvement on the original.
Scrabble offers the same features as the actual board game. It provides you with your tiles, a list of the words you’ve played and your score. It also gives you a little bit of information about the scoring system and how many tiles are left. If you get stuck, you’ll be able to swap your tiles out, but apart from this, Scrabble offers almost nothing.
The game acts entirely as you would expect. You can play in single-player mode, just for practice. or set up a multiplayer mode via Microsoft DirectPlay. Unfortunately, Scrabble’s not much to look at, and provides the players with nothing more than a board and a scorekeeping facility. It doesn’t let you know if your words are valid, there are no fun extras, and there isn’t even a built-in dictionary where you can check for yourself.
If you’re looking for a replacement for a Scrabble board, Scrabble will fit the bill. If you’re looking for a Scrabble app, however, you should stay away from this particular version.
Here is a remake of scrabble that can’t be faulted for deviating from the original. This is pure and simple, and will provide you with hours of fun word play.
