Become an astronaut hero

Space Walk VR Experience for Oculus Go is a free virtual reality space simulation video game wherein you can feel like an astronaut on an important mission. Developed by David Cox and Forth Interact, this VR game offers 3 space adventures and can be played using the Oculus Go and Gear VR. However, its comfort level is rated as “Intense” and it’s recommended that VR beginners get used to other games before trying this out.

Not exactly unique

Simply called Space Walk VR Experience, this game is not to be confused with Home – A VR Spacewalk by BBC Media Applications Technologies Limited, as that game uses more storytelling and uses the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Valve Index headsets. This one, however, feels more divided with how you select missions. You have three game modes available: The Earth, Save The World, and The Space Station. They all vary in difficulty and objectives.

In The Earth, you have to find lost satellites to bring them back to your ship. In Save The World, you have to quickly plant bombs inside an approaching asteroid to destroy it—and there are 3 different asteroid tunnel maps and you can unlock 15 more. In The Space Station, you must explore outside the station and complete puzzles to fix the solar panels. There’s a purchasable bonus level for this.

The game is free but there are in-game purchases you can do to expand the gameplay since most of these three levels can be pretty short and unfulfilling once you’ve completed them all. Compared to other space VR games, this one can seem a little outdated in graphics and animation, as the hand movements can look awkward and stiff at times, while the graphics’ textures aren’t the best.

Not bad for a free game

All in all, Space Walk VR Experience for Oculus Go is a simple-looking game but it does use advanced VR gameplay mechanics to make things more challenging. It’s not for the faint of heart or for those who have yet to play VR games in general, since this game can get pretty nauseous when you’re inexperienced. Nonetheless, it’s a nice space simulation title to try out.
