A free block-based building and exploration game
Craft City Loki is a free mobile game that allows players to build and destroy a block-based world. The game draws heavy inspiration from Minecraft, using very similar—in some cases identical—artwork and style.
The game is free but supported by ads. It should be noted that many users have complained about the ads being too invasive. Unlike other Minecraft-inspired games, such as Minecraft: Dungeons, Craft City Loki does not attempt to offer anything new to differentiate itself from the game it is mimicking.
Open-world sandbox creation
The main focal point of Craft City Loki is the ability to build (and destroy) practically anything in the game world. The world is made up of blocks that measure approximately 1 cubic meter in the game world and a few additional shapes, such as stairs. The player can choose from a wide array of materials to build with, from stone and wood to wool or clay.
Survival mode
Despite the focus of the game (and the title) being on the fact that the player can craft things, there is a “survival mode” to add some additional gameplay. Survival mode places the player in the same block-based world, but they must “mine” any blocks they wish to use, rather than having an unlimited inventory of all the blocks available in the game.
A derivative game with intrusive ads
While Craft City Loki may look like an impressive game at first glance, it is so much like Minecraft—to the point of using the same art assets—that it could be considered a copy. Additionally, the ads pop up in-game, breaking up the gameplay and making it feel stilted.
