The official vaccine co-ordination app for vaccinators in India

The official CoWIN vaccination app is for the use of vaccinators to help them co-ordinate the vaccine roll out across India. The app tracks the registration of vaccine beneficiaries to ensure that they receive the vaccine in the correct order of priority.

Vaccine roll out made easy for vaccinators: how it works

This free app is for the use of vaccinators; it allows them to identify Aadhaar vaccine registrants’ order of priority based on demographic information, job type and health status according to the vaccine roll out criteria as specified by the Central Government of India.

It allows vaccinators to update beneficiaries’ vaccine status from unvaccinated through to partially and fully vaccinated, and it also allows them to record any adverse reactions.

Can I register to receive the vaccine through the CoWIN vaccination app?

No. This app is for the sole use of those coordinating the vaccine roll out. Those looking to register for the vaccine should do so through Aadhaar. This will allow them to track their place in the vaccine programme as well as their status

What are the alternatives to the app?

This is the official National Health Portal app for vaccinators working in India’s health service. As such, there is no alternative CoWIN vaccination app in order to prevent duplication.

One point interface for vaccinators; needs some streamlining.

As the CoWIN vaccination app is the single point of data for vaccine beneficiaries, It automatically connects to Aadhaar so that vaccinators can validate registrants with ease. However, it needs to be made clear that the app is for vaccinators only.

Another major issue with the app is registration: there is no provision for vaccinators to register through the app to receive login credentials. There needs to be a link to the relevant site at least. App outages have also caused vaccine processing issues.
