Isometric action-adventure game for PC

Death’s Door is a premium action game that was developed by Acid Nerva for PC. It’s a dungeon-crawler-like adventure played in the top-down perspective. In it, players play a crow who works as a reaper and whose responsibility is to collect the souls of the dead.

Just like with Torchlight II or Diablo II: Resurrected, Death’s Door features elaborate and intricately designed levels for players to explore as they battle various enemies and progress through its story. The game is available for purchase with the base game only, a deluxe edition, or as part of a bundled offering.

What is it about?

In Death’s Door, you take on the role of a small crow who works as soul reaper for the Reaping Commissions Headquarters, an office-like organization operating in the afterlife. All seemed fine until something goes awry in one of your soul-collecting missions, and you learn of a conspiracy involving the mysterious disappearances of crows. It’s now your job to get to the bottom of this matter and find the truth.

Death’s Door is a beautifully made game from start to finish in collaboration with some talented artists from all over the world. It’s simple but effective level design, with various puzzles and platforms seamlessly interconnecting together. The same extends to combat, with you having light and heavy attacks, a dodge, and a couple of ranged spells to carry you through its entire length.

Speaking of combat, its simplicity can be to its detriment in some instances in the game. Some players might feel a bit too constrained with the lack of combos or other skills if they want more action to their gameplay. You get various weapons throughout, but there is no way to switch between them on the fly. All these small things add up to detract from an otherwise great experience.

When less is not more

Overall, Death’s Door is a beautifully crafted game that features great design and an intriguing story. The game just flows and the worlds are fun to explore, hearing about the stories of the various characters you’ll meet. If you like isometric action-adventure games, this one is well worth playing. Just don’t expect the combat to have that much depth to it.
