Drill to reach the oil

Oil Well Drilling is a mobile game from Rolic Games that simulate what it’s like to drill the land for oil. The mechanics of this game is simple. You only need to control a drilling machine as it bore the earth layer by layer to reach the oil reserve. Along the way, you can also collect gold, which you can use to buy better equipment. Be warned, though. Getting to the oil is not as easy as it sounds.

How to play the game

As noted,  Oil Well Drilling is easy to play. Upon launching, you will see a drilling machine already positioned to the area where you will drill. There is no need to move it around to find the oil reserve. On the right side of the screen is your fuel indicator, where you can see how much fuel you use. Be warned, though. Your game ends when your fuel runs out

Below the fuel meter are your drill control and heat indicator. By pulling the lever, you can control your drill to dig faster and harder—this is vital, especially when you hit a rock or even gold. Beside the lever is your heat indicator, which cranks up whenever you pull the lever hard. Be careful in pulling the lever too hard, as the game also ends when your drill overheats.

Oil Well Drilling has no leaderboard, so there isn’t much competition. However, it does note your best score. Also, you get to earn gold coins in every game, which you can use to buy a better drill. You can also use this coin to add more fuel or increase the level of your cooler. Note, however, that each purchase costs ten golds. You can earn more gold playing more, or you can watch ads. Speaking of ads, the game is littered with it. After every drilling, there is an ad that you need to watch to continue.

Simple and unimpressive

Overall, Oil Well Drilling is a casual game that you can play whenever you have time to kill. The premise is simple and does not require you to do lots of things. That said, the game gets a bit boring after some time. The game is quite repetitive and isn’t much of a challenge even after leveling up. More, the lack of competition makes it all the more unimpressive.
