Just like with Dead Cells and Katana ZERO, They Always Run is quite a stylish platformer along with fast-paced and challenging combat. Its game demo was showcased during E3, the annual worldwide PC gaming event, but a specific release date has yet to be announced for it.
What’s ‘They Always Run’ about?
They Always Run is a single-player story-driven 2D action platformer that tells the story of Aidan, a three-armed bounty hunter. Since the fall of the empire, the galaxy has been ridden with a high rise in crime. As a result, being able to locate anyone has become a highly-prized and demanded skill. This is where our space cowboy comes in to offer his services to anyone willing to pay high enough.
Join Aidan as he scours the galaxy on the hunt for the most elusive and deadly cutthroats. They Always Run exudes style from the moment you start slicing and dicing your enemies using your dual swords. Parrying is an important skill in any side-scrolling platformer, and this game allows you to do it quite fluidly. Pair that with carefully time counters for multiple enemy takedowns, and you get very satisfying combat.
You can also use your surroundings to throw objects at far away enemies. While your trusty grappling hook is there to help you reach hard-to-reach places. They Always Run’s game demo was definitely interesting and shows promise. Unfortunately, there is no set release date yet, but you can already add it to your wishlist on your Steam account to stay updated.
Fast-paced, stylish, and a lot of fun
Overall, They Always Run’s demo provided a good look at what to expect from the game when it finally releases, and it will be one to keep an eye out for. The space-western setting is interesting, the combat is fluid and satisfying, and was just a lot of fun to play. Now, all we can do is wait for its official release.
