Minimalistic defense game for mobile

City Defense is a free action game for mobile by developer Homa. It is a tower defense title of sorts wherein players are tasked with policing a large group of protestors. They will have to strategically place units all over the city to prevent riots and chaos from developing.

Compared to games like Crowd City or Crowd Evolution! wherein the goal is to amass a large group of people to wreak havoc, City Defense takes the opposite approach that has players prevent chaos and keep the peace. All of it is presented using minimalistic polygon graphics.

The people protests

Riot games have grown in popularity with gamers in recent years with their fun and engaging gameplay. They offer players a different experience than what they’re used to by having them run amok instead of maintaining the peace. City Defense is the complete opposite of that in terms of its premise, but it is no less intriguing with the way it is presented and played.

In this game, you take command of the police and military as you deal with an ever-growing number of people protesting throughout the city. Your main goal is to prevent a takeover by any means necessary. You have anti-riot units and vehicles at your disposal, ranging from fully armored personnel to full-fledged tanks. Survey the entire battlefield and disperse your men accordingly to deal with any danger.

It’s a classic face-off between teams red vs. blue, with you being part of the latter. The reds will multiply in numbers at a staggering pace, and you will need to keep up and make sure they don’t destroy the city and overwhelm you. Suffice it to say that this game comes with a rather steep difficulty curve, so you might have trouble getting used to the gameplay at first.

Don’t get overwhelmed

If you like crowd riot games and are looking for something similar, then City Defense will be an interesting title to check out. It flips the entire premise of the gameplay and has you be the one to deal with the chaos instead. The experience, though, different, is just as fun, engaging, and surprisingly strategic. The difficulty is a bit high, but you’ll get used to it soon enough.
