Arcade football game

Legendary Eleven is a sports game developed by Eclipse game. In this indie game, you can play retro-style football. Here, you can play a single match or one of several premade tournaments, including the Africa Cup, Asia Cup, and World Cup.

Players must note, however, that Legendary Eleven is not a football simulator. Instead, it is an arcade game with a frantic romp rather than the measured game of football. It also has simplified controls with only five buttons. However, these simplified buttons also make it hard to create a play. Additionally, the AI tends to foul even their teammates.

Is Legendary Eleven good?

Legendary Eleven is a game that harks back to the days of Tecmo World Cup 90 but with improved graphics and sound. As mentioned, it plays like arcade football popular back in the day. It lets you play online matches and friendlies. You can also play one of the premade championship tournaments, including the World Cup. However, unlike popular football video games, you cannot create your own tournament.

The gameplay is also basic and very arcade-like rather than the measured football mechanics. You have five buttons you can use: run, pass, shoot, dribble, and pass into open space. Long passes do not exist at all. Not only that but the dribble and passes are also a bit handicapped. There is an option to make super shots though, but you have to load up a bar by doing passes.

The AI also makes it hard to create a play as they tend to foul other players. Even their own teammates. Moreover, your player stops when charging for a shot. With this, you are vulnerable to getting the ball taken from you. The replay system is also a bit wonky and takes a long time before actually showing you the goal. The replay controls are also lacking.

Is the game worth downloading?

Overall, Legendary Eleven offers a nostalgic football game. Its gameplay, graphics, and sound all screamed retro bringing back the golden age of arcade football. That said, the game needs a lot more tinkering as it comes with a lot of issues. The gameplay itself is problematic, especially when compared to other football sims. The play is basic, and there are no features for the custom tournament.
