Experience FNF in a different light

B-Side Remixes – Friday Night Funkin’ Mod is a free video game utility that lets you enjoy the hit indie rhythm game, Friday Night Funkin’, differently. Developed by Rozebud, JADS, and Cval, this mod overhauls nearly the entire game, replacing icon and character art and nearly all music with new remixes to freshen things up.

Unlike character mods such as Hatsune Miku and Mid-Fight Masses, B-Side Remixes doesn’t add a new character or week. Instead, it remixes almost everything and gives it a new look—making it one of the most popular mods for this game despite the constant issues with control inputs.

What is FNF B-Side?

Friday Night Funkin’ is a 2020 free-to-play open-source music video game that lets you battle tough enemies through rap battles and sing-offs. In it, you play as Boyfriend, a daring guy who just wants to set a date with his beloved Girlfriend. However, there are obstacles in your way, such as an ex-rockstar dad, Halloween-costumed kids, and more. The popularity of this game ultimately inspired the creation of different mods.

One of the most popular of these is B-Side Remixes—or simply “B-Side.” It’s an overhaul mod that replaces most of the graphics and audio with an “alternate” design. The icons and character sprites have been given color palette swaps. All of the tracks from Week 1 to 6 have also been remixed—the key difference being that the tempo is much faster

In case you only want the audio changes and not the color overhaul, there’s also a version of this mod that only includes the song remixes for better compatibility with other mods. There are a few drawbacks to this mod, however. For one, there’s no new content added at all. Another is that the input for the controls can feel wonky—making you easily miss notes.

A classic mod to try out

All in all, B-Side Remixes – Friday Night Funkin’ Mod is one of the best Friday Night Funkin’ mods that you can try out for free once you’re done with the main game. While there’s nothing new added, the song remixes alone make this mod worthwhile—and the color overhaul just pairs well with the changes. It could still use some tweaking with its controls, though.
