A collection of indie horror games for PC
Dread X Collection is a premium adventure game for PC made by DreadXP in collaboration with multiple independent game developers. It is a collection of horror titles by some of the most talented indie game creators today. It comprises 10 entries, by 10 people, and was done in just 7 days.
The Dread X Collection drew heavy inspiration from P.T. for PC and its console counterparts. The games contained within all had one main goal during their development, and that is to provide a raw and terrifying horror experience that is immensely atmospheric and draws players into its world.
How did it come about?
P.T. is a psychological horror game that served as an interactive teaser for what would have been a new Silent Hill game in the Silent Hill series that was canceled. Despite that, it received critical acclaim for being an immersive and well-executed glimpse of what could have been. Other game creators even tried to do the same, and this is where the Dread X Collections comes in.
The Dread X Collection is an ensemble of 10 horror entries by some of the most popular indie game devs today. There is SUMMER NIGHT, The Pay is Nice, and Carthanc to kick things off. They are followed by Mr. Bucket Told Me To, Hand of Doom, The Pony Factory, and Outsiders. Then, you have Shatter, Rotgut, and Don’t Go Out to round everything up.
Each one is unique in its own right and will cater to all types of horror fans out there. Do note, however, that these are not full-fledged games, but rather are meant to be showcases or previews to one of the major releases by each developer. If you like a particular one, you can go ahead and support them, by purchasing their full game.
A glimpse of what could be
Dread X Collection is as much a way for P.T. fans to express their love for the game as it is to showcase their own works and talents as game developers. Considering the limitation that each one had, the result is an impressive feat. If you’re a fan of P.T. yourself or just a horror enthusiast in general, this will be worth checking out.
