A Japanese-themed Warband mod

The Gekokujo Mod is a massive, free-to-use game utility for the epic open-world adventure Mount & Blade: Warband. This add-on features a lot of content inspired by the Japanese feudal era. Expect warlords and samurais to take center stage, with factions taking the same historical references. It reflects the class struggle where small clans overthrow those in power.

Setting the game in feudal Japan is a refreshing change from the world of Calradia available in the original game. If you’re looking for other mods that drastically change the setting, check out Noldorin Worlds or The Triple Alliance – Paraguayan War mods.

Lead your clan to victory

You can start out as a samurai, a masterless ronin, or climb your way to become your very own warlord in Gekokujo Mod. First of all, it introduces a lot of content to the game. It uses customized skins for the characters–reflecting different factions and character classes. Players can also expect weapons unique to the period, such as katanas, spears, and muskets.

Being set in the Warring States Period of Japanese history, you get to encounter custom factions based on the military powers of the time. Serve under Oda Nobunaga, or choose from any of the other regional warlords. You can even forge your own path for the grand unification of the Japanese islands. This underdog challenge makes playing the mod worthwhile.

It has great content quality overall, features custom weapons and animation, and a premise that’s worth playing for hours on end. Perhaps the only downside to a mod of this scale is that it has a significantly larger file size compared to other mods. Still, if your system has no problem with storage then the lands of Feudal Japan are yours for the taking.

Perfect for samurai fans everywhere

Built upon the already-impressive system of Warband, Gekokujo Mod introduces the Warring States Period of Japanese history to players. With it, players can expect an entirely new gameplay experience–from faction set-up, custom skins, and even weapon animations. It feels like a separate game with the same basic mechanics as the vanilla version. However, take note that it has a significantly large file size. Still, it’s highly recommended.
