Look into the far past of NieR:Automata
NieR Replicant™ ver.1.22474487139… is an action video game wherein you must save your sister in this beautiful but ruined world. Developed by Square Enix and Toylogic Inc., this game is the updated version of the previously Japan-only NieR RepliCant. It features upgrade visuals alongside the familiar sorrowful storyline from the NieR franchise.
As the prequel to NieR:Automata, it ties into a lot of the game’s tragic lore and even brings back some of the musical masterpieces the series is well-known for. Rather than a remake or remaster, however, this version is simply considered an upgrade.
Is Nier Replicant ver 1.22474487139 a remake?
NieR is a 2010 action-adventure video game developed by Cavia and published by Square Enix. As the very first game, it was given two versions: NieR Gestalt and NieR RepliCant. Gestalt was released worldwide and featured a father as the protagonist—hell-bent on saving his sick daughter. Meanwhile, RepliCant had only been released in Japan and simply changed the protagonist to a brother character, who wants to save his sister.
Regardless of the differences, the two versions had gained a cult following—and RepliCant is now released worldwide through NieR Replicant™ ver.1.22474487139…, which is considered a modern upgrade rather than a remake. Abbreviated as NieR Replicant ver.1.22…, the game lets you play as the brother protagonist and go through his harrowing journey as he searches for the “Sealed Verses.”
The key updates here include fully-voiced dialogue, a complete rearranged soundtrack with new songs, expanded weapon stories, new scenarios, some references to NieR:Automata, all the cut content from the original game, and a visually stunning rework of the graphics in HD. Even the combat gameplay returned and was mixed with the beloved gameplay of Automata. However, while there are numerous upsides here, the PC port generally suffers from FPS stuttering.
Worth it for any fan
All in all, NieR Replicant™ ver.1.22474487139… is a wonderful revival to the previous games of this franchise—especially with how high NieR:Automata had topped the gaming charts. While the PC version can lag quite a bit, there are numerous fixes you can apply. The vast amount of improvements compared to the original NieR Replicant makes this a highly recommended game—whether you’re an old fan or not.
