Free first-person problem-solving puzzle RPG

Crypt is a unique FTP first-person game that requires players to solve several puzzles if they wish to escape an unfamiliar environment. They are offered a handful of seemingly helpful “clues” as they progress. Some may find the premise frustrating, but it is great for fans of complicated puzzles.

In terms of its apparently straightforward nature, Crypt may appear similar to other room escape games at first, such as Escape Simulator. However, users will soon discover that this is hardly the case.

Designed with humor in mind

The developer of Crypt states that the game was originally created as a joke, as the first version was impossible to beat. While the latest iteration does have an ending, it is meant to be more frustrating than strategically satisfying.

Relying upon wits alone

Most escape games contain clues and hints that can be used when solving puzzles or unlocking levels. This is not the case in terms of Crypt. Although the puzzles can indeed be solved, players are provided with no guidance.

Time is of the essence

One aspect of Crypt that makes the gameplay even more challenging involves the presence of an unknown entity that is never far off. If players do not progress fast enough, they will soon fall prey to this creature.

A simple and yet elusive goal

Escape platforms such as Whiskers normally present players with a clear objective (such as to free themselves from a haunted house). It first appears that the primary goal is to steal a valuable jar before escaping. Nonetheless, this is only part of the puzzle, and thanks to numerous misleading elements, users will need to think far outside of the box.
