What happened in the first day?

The First Day of the Gallipoli Campaign is one of the most tragic and significant days of the entire war. On April 25, 1915, the day after the first battle of the war, the British and French made an agreement to exchange hundreds of thousands of tons of goods and raw materials. This was to be known as the exchange of ships.

The ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) landed at Cape White, on the western coast of the peninsula, and immediately found themselves in a fight for territory. It would be four more weeks before the British and French realized that their erstwhile ally had turned against them.

The war was now turning against the ANZACs, who were forced to fight for their survival.

What happened in the second day?

On April 26, 1915, the second day of the Gallipoli Campaign, the British, French, and Russians made an agreement to exchange hundreds of thousands of tons of goods and raw materials.

This was to be known as the exchange of populations.

The British were forced to land at the Dardanelles, in the northern part of the peninsula. It would be a whole day before they realized that they were not going to be able to cross the strait and go into battle.
