Train simulation in your pocket

Pocket Trains for Android lets you be a train manager. You’re responsible for ordering trains and sending them and their valuable cargo across Europe.

Tutorial guides the way

The Pocket Trains tutorial acquaints the player with the basic features of the app. You select a train, a job to do, and a destination station. The bux game currency lets you open crates (for train parts and upgrades), speed up a train’s route, and expand a city’s stockyard. At the beginning, there are just two trains to choose from. But Pocket Trains lets you craft a large variety of different trains, each with their own attributes and upgrades.

Good controls

Pocket Trains plays like a strategy game. Tap the Train List button in the top-right corner to see all of your trains. Tap the Jobs button to put cargo on your train. Then tap the destination station.

Simple graphics, decent music

The graphics in Pocket Trains are pixelated and the trains, stations and cards makes the game seem retro. Finer details are missing, such as on-screen animations, once an order is processed. You’d better make the most of the lively music as there’s not much else there!

Conclusion: Stripped-down train management with limited entertainment value

Pocket Trains is just an average train management simulator for when you’re on the go. The controller works well. The graphics and the game lack polish and you lose interest pretty quickly.
