The Idol Rhythm Game Where You Kick Some Butt

Muse Dash is a music rhythm game with side-scroller parkour gameplay that will have you tapping your shoes to the beat. You play as one of the three beautiful Heroines, who must fix the world movement by defeating enemies to the accompaniment of some really snazzy tunes.

Show Some Moves

The concept of rhythm games is simple: you need to tap with your character in time with the music being played and your score will depend on how accurate you hit a note and how long your combo of good hits went. Some popular rhythm games spice up this gameplay by adding more actions on the screen aside from the tapping, like holding and sliding notes, which you can find especially in mobile games. Muse Dash is no different, but what makes this game unique is the added concept of fighting enemies while you tap away. Here, the incoming enemies are the notes and you need to kick them all away to get to the enemy boss you’re chasing in the round. It’s a breath of fresh air from the usual incoming rings of notes flying towards you. There’s also a parkour element to the game, as you need to avoid objects while you run after your enemies.

Be The Cutest Heroine Ever

Muse Dash features three protagonists with their own unique abilities:: the blond rockstar Rin, the pink-haired hyperactive Buro, and the blue-haired stoic Marija—all three tasked with restoring world peace. To compensate for the small number of playable characters, you get to unlock a ton of cool and cute costumes for the girls—each with its own power-ups, as well. You even get Elfins, pet-like creatures that will accompany you and give you passive buffs during the levels. Half of the main appeal of Muse Dash are the girls and their outfits. The color-popping art style really both highlights them and blends them in with this vivid world. However, their enemies were made with equally interesting designs and color themes, as well, so despite the lack of more characters you can play, facing off against the boss enemies is still exciting.

This World is Alive

The art, sound, and level designs all come together cohesively in Muse Dash. Most of the time, the music and gameplay are the real stars of the show in a rhythm game, but here, the art style takes center-stage, as well, and gets you fully immersed in the game. All three aspects complement each other and none of them painfully stick out. Even the sound effects for the actions happening work really when you hear it with the music playing. Add in the great voice-acting by the three main girls and you’ve got a rhythm game that wasn’t just made for eye candy. It gets even better with how you get downloadable content of different songs every now and then to keep the game fresh and fun.

Let’s Dance

For a rhythm mobile game, Muse Dash doesn’t let itself be overshadowed by the most popular of rhythm mobile games on the market. The only drawbacks to it are its overly-vivid flashing colors and the overload of items on the screen, but other than that, it’s a game with so many famous genres that will at least catch the attention of someone. If you’re a music game fan, an anime idol fan, or just someone who thinks this is a cute game to try, then don’t hold yourself back.
