Tile-based rhythm game for PC

Pulsus is a free music title for PC by independent developer TetroGem. It is a tile-based rhythm game wherein players will need to time and hit incoming beats on a 3×3 tile board. It features community-made levels and features a global leaderboard where they can compete for the highest scores.

Just like with Osu! or Friday Night Funkin’, Pulsus is all about getting the right rhythm and timing. It even has a system that rewards players with Pulse for good performance. It’s available as an installable game or it can be played directly from a web browser.

Is it any good?

Pulsus is a tile-based rhythm game that is based on the 3×3 tile board design. You’ll start off slow with just a single row to help you get used to the gameplay. It will get progressively harder as you go along, though, and depending on the level and song that is being played. Speaking of songs, the music offers you plenty of choices across multiple genres to choose from.

When it comes to actual gameplay, it will be from numbersletters, or a combination of both for key presses. Depending on the levels were designed, you will be presented with incoming beats in the form of colored blocks. Others would place circles inside tiles that slowly fill up, and you will need to time your taps just as they’re about to be full.

As mentioned earlier, Pulsus features community-made levels. As such, you can also make some of your own to submit and share with other players. You can then compete for the highest scores on the online global leaderboard. Just note that the game is still in active development and is not yet complete. Expect more content to come in future updates.

Promising and community-supported

In summary, Pulsus is a nice game to check out if you’re a fan of rhythm-based games. There’s a varied selection of songs and musical genres to choose from. Plus, it has an active community of players that contribute new levels all the time. It’s a fun and challenging title and is highly recommended.
