A vibrant and innovative block puzzler
Collapsus – Early Access is a free puzzle title made by indie developer Wraith Games. It’s an endless block breaker game wherein players must destroy colored blocks to earn points while being mindful of the “break resource” that dictates how many moves they can make before it’s game over.
Similar to games like Block Puzzle Jewel or Block! Hexa Puzzle, Collapsus – Early Access’ goal is to earn as many points as possible. What makes it stand out is that it allows them to rotate the board in any direction, making for some interesting block-breaking combos.
Breaking the norm
If you’ve played any block puzzle game before, you’re probably quite familiar with how the gameplay works already. Most titles pretty much draw from the same formula while adding a few twists here and there. Here comes Collapsus – Early Access, a block-breaking puzzler that builds upon and innovates on the established norm in a variety of fun and interesting ways that you may have not seen or experienced before.
Its gameplay is incredibly modular and adaptable. It features a “break resource” that essentially determines how many moves you can make. The nice thing is that you can bring some of it back by doing 4 or more block combos. What’s more, you can alter the orientation of the board in any direction you want. You can even flip it in a sort of reverse mirror fashion.
Another standout aspect of the game is that it offers over 50 accessibility options that cater to a wide variety of players, which is something that not a lot of developers do. You’ll also get a bunch of game modes, including multiplayer. Do note, that the game is still in early access, though. Expect some bugs here and there, as well as more changes to come as development progresses.
Too good to pass up
If you’re big on block puzzles and are looking for something new and different to play, Collpsus – Early Access is pretty much a must-try. It’s such a polished and innovative game that any fan of the genre will love. The fact that it’s already this good being in Early Access titles is a good sign of possibly more things to come in the future. Highly recommended.
