Survive a world of Norse Myth in Fated: the Silent Oath
Fated: the Silent Oath is a VR adventure game in which you play Ulfir, a father who has been resurrected by the gods at the cost of his voice. With only nodding and shaking your head as ways to communicate, you must guide your family through the dangers of a world of Viking mythology.
Experience a unique story
Fated: the Silent Oath uses its lead character’s mute status to great effect, adding a physical element to your decision making that brings the impact of your choices home. There are some puzzles and challenges in this game, but it’s primarily a narrative-driven game, where Ulfir’s relationship with his daughter, nephew, and wife takes centre stage. The world is rendered in a graphical style that isn’t exactly cartoony but doesn’t strive for realism; this actually helps to support the feeling of being immersed in a story book or animated film. Sadly, you won’t get to spend long in this compelling and immersive world: Fated: the Silent Oath probably won’t take up more than two hours of your time.
A compelling immersive experience
Fated: the Silent Oath is worth playing if you want to see VR narrative done well, but lacks challenge.
