A 2D side-scrolling platform game with puppets

Projection: First Light is a platform and puzzle game where you play as the shadow of a puppet. You play as Greta, who is a shadow puppet living in a dark shadow puppet world. Your job is to take your puppet on an adventure through Indonesia, Turkey, Greece, China, and 19th century England.

Use light to alter where you may jump

Take control of a source of light, and use Greta and the light to solve puzzles. You may move the source of light around to create more shadows, which you may then use as platforms. There are enemies, but most of the time you have to find imaginative solutions to the many puzzles that plague the land. Projection: First Light has a soundtrack that is very ethereal, and the music changes as you approach different areas; especially when you approach boss areas. The backgrounds are pretty, in an artistic way, but there is very little detail. The developers have used shadow and light, and then mixed it with a number of orange and yellow colours. Each environment that Greta enters has its own effects, such as wind, rain, and mist.

An odd game with a slow gaming pace

Projection: First Light has very idealistic developers with a rather unrealistic view of a Utopian life. The developers repeatedly try to send a message to the players about tolerating others, (even if the others are mythical monsters). The 2D platforming side of the game may appeal to some people, but the unstoppable darkness and the lack of colour becomes tired and overly melancholy after extended playing times. This game is mostly suitable for people who cannot get enough of platform puzzle games. It also suits players who prefer a slower-paced gaming experience.
