Zero Hour mod in WWII style

C&C World War II Mod is a free-to-use game utility developed by user WhenTheyCry and powered by moddb. This mod specifically created for Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour lets you play the game, but with the aesthetics and technologies from World War II. Specifically, this focuses on the Russian perspective and lets you choose one of four factions.

With its use of custom schemes and consistently-themed content, C&C World War II Mod joins the ranks of other Zero Hour mods such as C&C: Shockwave Chaos or the Korean War 2 Mod.

Choose between the Allies and the Axis

To capture the global alliances at the time, you can choose between four of the main players in the war: the Allied Army, which is composed of the US and UK, USSR, Japan, or Germany. C&C World War II Mod then features new and custom skins for some existing units as well as the specific specialties that determine the units, abilities, and upgrades that are available to the player.

Speaking of custom units, the mod also introduces a rank system for certain units. This means that you get to upgrade them, giving access to more skills and new skins. For example, the mod features different camouflage variants and color schemes. Not only does it make the game more visually varied, but it also gives you a quick reference to whether you can take on a unit or not.

Of course, you can enjoy this mod solo or with friends. It still supports the community-maintained GOL servers as well as LAN matchmakers like Hamachi and Garena. However, players will notice its lack of balance. Tanks are a good example of this; as infantry-only units can now be used to take out other tanks or armored units. Additionally, some building models are out of scale, affecting gameplay experience.

A promising WWII mod

Its attempts to bring in some of the players in the second world war make C&C World War II Mod a promising mod, bringing a breath of fresh air to the growing C&C modding community. The add-on also lets you “upgrade” units in the game. Unfortunately, the mod can still use a few more updates that improve its game balance and the scale of certain in-game models.
