Free brutal platformer where you’re a naked guy

Fairly Nude is a free hardcore platformer video game that lets you run around in comically-dangerous rooms as a pixelated naked guy. Developed by Arian Behfar, this brightly-colored old-school action madness will remind you of various other classic platformers in the form of rage games, such as Super Meat Boy. Fairly Nude is unapologetically crass and rude as you play and keep on dying, so if you’re the type to find some strange satisfaction in tackling brutally-punishing platformers and side-scrollers, then this is a good place to start. Fair warning, however: not only is this game difficult to master, but your very own naked avatar will also be constantly mocking you.

Run around naked

Platform games are a subgenre of action games. In platformers, you control a character that has to jump and climb between suspended platforms while avoiding obstacles. Sometimes, these obstacles immediately kill your character upon touching them—thus, you have to constantly use your handy-dandy jump button in order to survive. This is never more important in rage games that are platformer games, too.

This subgenre tends to love inflicting as much frustration as possible with the difficulty of traversing levels. You will often find spikes all over the levels, forcing you to stick to mostly a few linear paths that aren’t lenient at all when it comes to spacing. Fairly Nude doesn’t forget this with its large chasms of either nothingness or spiky death. Playing Fairly Nude is pretty straightforward, as you just have to run, jump, and slide around in order to avoid dying.

You can collect coins along the way, but your real goal is getting the trophy within each level to progress to the next location. Every time you die, you lose the trophy, however—which makes it all the more frustrating. It doesn’t help that every time you die, your naked guy will keep insulting you. But, as a platformer, Fairly Nude is great with its 21 progressively hard levels, ten different 8-bit soundtracks, and cute pixel art, so feel free to test your skills and patience with this.
