Lead A Kingdom. Inherit Knowledge And Power. Fight For Justice.
Romancing SaGa 2 is a classic Japanese RPG made by Akitoshi Kawazu, creator of Final Fantasy II and the SaGa series. It centres around the imperial family of a fantasy world and their legacy: you play initially as the first ruler of a country and set out on adventure, but as time passes, you have multiple heirs and play as them throughout a journey that spans generations.
Master of All, or Master of None
Romancing SaGa 2 has fantastic music and great art design backed by sprite-based graphics. It also has a lot of difficult battles, many party members, and many ways to grow them. Learning how the game’s systems work is essential to success, particularly learning how inheritance works between generations, and sometimes the only safe way to do this is through trial and error, learning from previous playthroughs where mistakes were made. This can be hard on players who aren’t patient.
A Saga To Learn And Remember
Overall, Romancing SaGa 2 has an intriguing concept, and it’s either brought down or elevated by opaque game mechanics and a few dangerous gotchas. Hardcore RPG players will probably love Romancing SaGa 2, while less inveterate players might consider other entries in the series, or different games entirely.
