Island survival adventure game for PC

Windbound is a premium adventure game for PC developed by 5 Lives Studios. It is a third-person survival title wherein players find themselves stranded on an uncharted island. They will need to explore, gather resources, and slowly navigate the land and sea in order to survive.

Similar to Raft or Green Hell, Windbound features a vast open-world to explore and hidden secrets to discover. It also incorporates crafting elements in its gameplay that will let players build a makeshift raft to jump from one island to the next in hopes of finding a way back home.

Lost at sea

In Windbound, you play as Kara, a fierce warrior that was caught in a storm and separated from your tribe. Lost and shipwrecked, you find yourself stranded on a remote island that is part of the mysterious and uncharted Forbidden Islands. With no food, shelter, or resources available, you must now set forth on a perilous journey of survival and find your way back home.

The Forbidden Islands in Windbound are rich with resources for the taking. However, you will need to be wary of its harsh environments and deadly creatures. Craft weapons to defend yourself and hunt for food. You can also invent tools you will need to build basic shelter and even a boat to explore the various neighboring islands. Scavenge for better materials so you can upgrade them as you progress.

Speaking of boats, your sea vessel will be your most important companion. Come up with an ideal sail design and set up to face the harsh winds and help you reach farther. There are dangerous creatures in the waters, too, so fortify its structure to withstand attacks. The only thing to be aware of is the rather steep difficulty curve, which will affect how your playthrough will go.

Explore, adapt, survive

All in all, Windbound is a solid survival game that boasts a vast open world to explore, a robust crafting system, and plenty of other things to do. The gameplay focuses more on exploration than combat, but it’s a satisfying experience nonetheless. Sea travel and the ability to upgrade your boat is also a rewarding endeavor. If you’re a fan of these types of games, give this one a try.
