A tactical RPG in the Marvel universe
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a premium role-playing title for PC developed by Firaxis Games. It’s a tactical strategy game that is set in the Marvel comic universe. Players will take on the role of a legendary demon slayer, and lead a team of superheroes to stop the resurrection of an ancient evil.
Compared to other Marvel games like Marvel’s Avengers or Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, which offer fast-paced action and combat, Marvel’s Midnight Suns take on a more strategic approach to its gameplay. It is slated for release on Oct. 8, 2022, with prepurchase options already available.
Stop an ancient evil
Marvel’s Midnight Suns tells the story of the Mother of Demons, Lilith, who has been awakened by Hydra, and now intends to resurrect her master, Chthon. The Avengers enlist the help of the titular Midnight Suns, heroes whose powers are rooted in the supernatural, to help stop the ancient evil from resurrecting. You play as Hunter, Lilith’s forsaken child and the only one who has defeated her before.
Lead the Midnight Suns to stop Lilith. Choose from a roster of Marvel superheroes to form a team of four that is capable of facing various situations and enemies. In your downtime, you can manage and level up your characters in your upgradable base, The Abbey. Combat is turn-based and utilizes a deck system that has a set of random abilities that you can use during your battles.
Player interactions in the game will have a role in influencing the gameplay and hero abilities. The game is slated for release on Oct. 8, 2022. However, you can already prepurchase various versions of it, namely the Digital and Legendary Editions. The former includes a premium pack containing 11 character skins, while the latter bumps that number to 23 skins and includes a Season Pass.
Sons of Midnight
The arrival of Marvel’s Midnight Suns couldn’t have come at a better time as Marvel gears up for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It shines the spotlight on the Midnight Sons, whose members are getting their time in the limelight, and serves as a nice introduction to them in video game form. It’s about time Marvel’s darker and lesser highlighted heroes get their due.
