Free massively multiplayer online worm game

wormate.io is a free mobile worm game developed by Oleksandr Godoba. Like other titles of this concept, this game will have you control a cheerful, plucky worm while it slithers inside a huge arena filled with food and boosters. However, unlike other worm games, this is a massively multiplayer online game. It pits you against other players online and ranks you depending on the amount of food that your worm has eaten. There is only one goal in this arcade game, and that is to grow the largest worm in the arena.

Enjoy the classic game

wormate.io uses the same gameplay as the classic snake game. You begin the game by controlling a small worm. As mentioned, the goal is to make the worm bigger by directing it to clumps of food scattered around the arena. The worm moves constantly and consumes whatever it crosses path with.

Don’t worry, though. There will be plenty of food to eat. There are even boosters that can help you grow your worm faster. More than that, you can also make the worm eat coins, which adds extra points. In turn, these points will help you climb the leader board.

However, the game is not that easy. Since this is an online multiplayer game, there will be other worms slithering across the arena. You need to outpace them to get to the food ahead of them.

Be careful in doing so, though. Bumping into any of them will lead to your worm’s death. Not only that, but there will also be some massive, anaconda-like AI worms in the field, which you also need to avoid.

No new offering

Like any other worm game, wormate.io has a very simple premise. Its simplicity even extends to its game design. Everything in the game comes in a cartoon-like design with flashy colors. By default, your worm comes in color yellow. There is an option to change it, but your choices are limited.

wormate.io employs simple mechanics. You only need to move your fingers on your screen to direct where your worm will go. The worm moves at a slow pace, and you need to put two fingers on the screen to accelerate its speed. However, do that with caution as you might end up bumping into other worms in the arena.

You also need to put more effort into directing your worm to where you want it to go as the controls can be a little bit unresponsive. There are times that you need to move your fingers a few times just to make your worm turn. The clunky control can also cause your worm to bump into others in the arena.

For casual gamers

While there is nothing new to the game, wormate.io still makes a great game for casual players. The game is not too hard yet not too easy that you’ll be bored after playing for a few minutes. More, it is very entertaining despite the lack of complex gameplay. However, the controls can frustrate players as it can cause them to miss their chance of topping the leader board.
