Memory matching with WoW artwork
Card memory matching games are nothing new – twenty cards (ten pairs) are mixed and laid out in front of you, and by turning them over two at a time you can clear the board by finding matching cards.
As a timewaster, it’s one of the the most basic and popular. World of Warcraft Concentration – Horde is a WoW themed card memory game for the iPhone. When you play the game, artwork featuring the Horde from the game is revealed in the background. It works as you would expect: At the start you are briefly shown the position of all the cards, they are turned over and then you start to clear the board.
There’s a timer and a score, the best of which are saved by the game so you always have something to improve on. There are plenty of different symbols on the cards, so it’s never too easy. The game is ad-supported with a banner at the top of the card table. They are not intrusive, but expose a problem with World of Warcraft Concentration – Horde.
There are no options or menu in World of Warcraft Concentration – Horde! Once a game starts, all you can do is finish it, or exit the application. There is no home screen button, no difficulty settings and the sound effects are terrible. As a card matching game it is absolutely as basic as it could be, but really lacks an exit game function.
World of Warcraft Concentration – Horde is a functional card matching game: fans of fantasy WoW artwork may enjoy the pictures, but what the app really needs is a working menu screen and some more options!
