1-bit horror game
World of Horror is a 1-bit horror game inspired by the works of Junji Ito and HP Lovegood. The game features a small, seaside town of Japan. The game begins when the community’s sanity begins to dwindle as Old Gods reawaken and crawl back into the world. Otherworldly, grotesque creatures terrorize the town, and the only solution is to face the monsters that threaten humanity. Your job is to navigate the hellish reality using the game’s turn-based combat. You must be careful of the decisions you make as it creates dire consequences.
Gloriously horrifying
World of Horror is a cosmic horror role-playing game consisting of branching stories with five playable characters. Each character must brave the horror and chaos. They each have their backgrounds, which offer up a different perspective on the events that take place. You will experiment with the events of a playthrough by building a deck of event cards. Only when you face your battles against the darkness will you discover its outcome. There are many possible outcomes, so expect that certain decks unlock mysteries or clues.
The presents its rich but horrifying world in 1-bit black and white scenes – an ode to the 1980s Macintosh computers. In it, you must investigate and complete five segments with the clues and spells that you gather along the way. They will be difficult to find, but you must diligently search through every corner of the town. Your efforts will help you scour for items that will come in useful in another frightening encounter.
You are safe from jump scares and cheap tricks in this game. Just like Junji Ito’s work, the storyline presents one unnerving environment after another. These scenes are complemented by haunting chiptunes that create a gnawing sense of dread. With World of Horror, the series of unsettling and gruesome accounts linger long after finishing the game.
