Intuitive smartphone application for aphasia sufferers
Wemogee is a mobile phone bundle that has been created with the communicative needs of aphasia sufferers in mind. As they have difficulty sending normal SMS messages and texts, this system employs widgets and icons which display facial expressions. So, it is now possible for those diagnosed with aphasia to effectively speak with their friends and family. Created by Samsung, there are more than 140 unique images to choose from and these can all be accessed with the swipe of a finger.
Primary Tools and Applications
Wemogee is actually intended to perform two discrete functions. While it is primarily designed to be used as a virtual messenger service, it can also be used to expedite face-to-face interactions between two individuals who may suffer from aphasia. All icons have been researched and created by qualified speech therapists, so the entire package boasts a very professional ‘feel’.
Other Functions
Wemogee uses emojis to translate words and emotions into visual displays that can be easily interpreted by the reader. However, users who do not suffer from aphasia will be presented with messages in a standard text format. Updates tend to occur on a frequent basis and these include improvements such as the removal of bugs and the addition of more emoji icons.
