Free Software to Save and Classify Online Articles
Wallabag is a user-friendly software package intended to enable users to save online articles (such as RSS news feeds) into an offline folder. It is also possible to save entire webpages. These can then be categorized for later viewing. This software is compatible with personal computers as well as smartphones. It is free to download and install.
Main Functions and Applications
There can be many times when a page within a website needs to be saved for future reference. As opposed to standard browser plug-ins, Wallabag focuses upon the content of the article itself as opposed to flash presentations and other unnecessary ‘fluff’, Thus, the user is only receiving the most important details. This software is able to work together with other data aggregators such as Pinboard, Instapaper and Readability. It is supported by all major operating systems and the application can be accessed by multiple devices.
Other Benefits
Wallabag is currently supported by a number of third-party feed aggregators. These include (but may not be limited to) Miniflux, Vienna RSS, FreshRSS, Lead and Feedreader. The available languages are English, French and German. There is also a dedicated API which can be used by software developers. Wallabag 2.2.2 is the latest release available for immediate download.
