An Almost Perfect VR Simulation of the Laser Harp

VR Laser Harp is a ‘laser harp’ simulation game – by the way, the harp has been in use since the ’80s. The game imports original samples captured using Elka Synthex, in order to ensure the most authentic experience.

Great Simulation

The digital instrument is an almost perfect simulation, which includes the original system’s limitations too. You would be changing scales and octaves from your controller to facilitate a complete keyboard that can be controlled on-the-fly. The simulation is “almost perfect” as a few tweaks have been made to the original for convenience. The original game did not come with multi-colored lasers. VR Laser Harp is a casual game aimed at enthusiasts. In other words, the Laser Harp has its limitations and it’s not meant to be played fast. The maximum number of laser notes you could play is 26. Also, you could play with four octaves. The instrument’s configuration is similar to a piano or keyboard.

Controls

The gaming controls are HTC Vive-optimized. That said, Oculus Touch controllers would work fine as well. The game is currently in development stage and there would be enhancements to the UI to customize and make it more responsive. You could play a memory game and laser notes. The memory game helps take some stress off and it also provides kids the opportunity to experience VR and hone their mental abilities at the same time. The best aspect, however, is that playing the harp is loads of fun.
