An action-roguelike and a farming game
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire is a premium role-playing game developed by Digitally Games. This software game combines the action elements of roguelikes and the growing-farming aspects of games set in Dracula’s homeland, Transylvania. The story is simple—Voltaire, Dracula’s youngest son, needs to change his eating habits to a less carnal one.
In Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire, you will take Voltaire’s role and decide that going vegan is the best option for your future. This game is divided into eight different biomes where you must explore, plant, water, and fight against enemies tasked with destroying your homes at Dracula’s orders.
An amusing tale of a young vampire
In Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire, you take on the role of Voltaire—Dracula’s youngest son. Your father will eventually become angry with your choice to follow a vegan diet, and he will kick you out of the house. Being excluded from your family and not having enough food or money to survive, you decide to open a vegetable plantation with your uncles Stein and Frank.
The gameplay consists of a seven-day cycle and a night phase. During the day, you can explore, gather resources and items, and level up your character’s stats by completing challenges on quests. The night is when monsters attack your house and plantation, so you must keep guard. If they succeed in invading, you must return to the day’s beginning. Accordingly, this is where the game’s roguelike mechanics come into play.
This game is easy to play but could have had a more complex control scheme. However, the game’s excellent tutorial makes it easy for new players to pick up and play. In addition, no matter what you do here, the gameplay stays the same, becoming repetitive over time. Furthermore, once you have harvested your crops and completed enough quests to make you think the game might become more interesting, it does not.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire is a fun game with simple yet rewarding core mechanics. A great thing about this game is that it’s easy to pick up and play. The mixture of classical RPG elements like exploration and crafting with roguelike characteristics makes this game a more addictive choice with fun moments while still challenging. However, as the game progresses, it tends to become more repetitive.
