A modest but effective image editor

VieasEx is an image viewer with editing functions designed to make minor edits without having to resort to heavy or complex programs like Photoshop.

With VieasEx you have access to images in different formats for viewing or retouching, resizing, cutting a fragment, fixing the brightness or contrast or applying effects.

It also allows you to convert images to other formats, selecting the quality or the maximum size per file.

An unassuming editor

VieasEx is notable for its small size (the installer takes a little over a megabyte), and for its very simple interface that displays the options via the context menu (activated with the right mouse button).

However, VieasEx has the same functions as any professional graphic editor, divided into four sections: Edit, Transform, Correct and Effects.

Among other things, VieasEx allows you to:

  • Edit: draw over, add text or an image.
  • Transform: Cut a section, resize the image, rotate sideways or invert.
  • Correct: Change brightness, contrast, light and shadow, color balance, apply negative or grayscale effects, blur or eliminate noise…
  • Effects: Color filter, apply texture to the image, oil painting effect …

In addition, VieasEx offers full screen editing, zoom function and additional windows to navigate a large image or switch between different images – handy if you open several at once or have accessed the contents of a ZIP folder.

Easy to use but not intuitive

On the one hand, VieasEx is set out in a really easy way. However, its innovative menu, which is displayed only when you need a particular function or activity, is difficult to use at first, because VieasEx is definitely not as intuitive as other programs of this kind.

Big viewer and converter

VieasEx really stands out as a viewer, either for a single image or a group of them. Furthermore, the function of converting between formats is really convenient, to the point that you can indicate a maximum file size.

When it comes to the editing functions, some of them are very practical, such as those for cropping or rotating the image. However, the effects section is very simple, and is far from the spectacular effects offered by similar programs.

For your day to day

VieasEx is intended for small daily tasks like converting multiple images between formats, rotating a photo or cropping a fragment, i.e. small tasks for which, with VieasEx, you avoid having to use heavier programs with higher resource consumption such as Photoshop.

If you’re looking for advanced actions or professional-type effects, however, you’re probably going to need something with a little more poke.
